Plans and billing#

Every organisation is on a plan, which sets what it’s limited to. Your own monitors are unlimited on every plan — plans meter checks, not agents.

The current prices are on the pricing page. This page covers what each plan’s limits are and what happens when they bite.

A few notes on the rows:

  • Checks and heartbeat checks are separate budgets. See Heartbeat checks. For heartbeats, 0 means the plan has none at all, never “unlimited”.
  • Shortest check interval and longest check timeout apply when you save a check (and a heartbeat’s interval). The check form shows your plan’s minimum next to the interval field.
  • Certificate-expiry warnings are the Certificate expiry option on the check form — see Writing checks. On Free the field is replaced by a note that it’s a paid-plan feature.
  • Channel types are which kinds of notification channel you can add. A kind your plan doesn’t include shows a disabled Upgrade to enable button.
  • Members is how many people can belong to the organisation — see Members and invitations.
  • Result history is how long the chart and uptime figures can reach back (see Check history and charts). Individual raw results are kept for 30 days on every plan.

There is also a Custom plan for larger needs: every limit above is negotiated for your organisation rather than fixed, so it has no column here. Contact us to discuss one.

Seeing where you stand#

Open the menu under your email address in the top right and choose Plan. It shows your current plan next to every other plan’s limits, and — for your own plan — how much of each limit you’re using right now, e.g. how many of your checks, heartbeats, channels and members are in use.

Changing plan#

  • From Free to Solo or Team you can upgrade yourself from the Plan page, choosing monthly or yearly billing. Checkout is handled by Paddle, our payment provider, so your card details never touch Tenpm Uptime. Your plan updates automatically once payment completes, usually within a minute.
  • Anything else — moving to Double, to Custom, or between paid plans, or downgrading — is done by contacting us. Self-serve changes between paid plans aren’t available yet.
  • If checkout isn’t enabled on the server you’re using, the Plan page says self-serve changes aren’t available yet and every change goes through us.

Cancelling a paid subscription returns the organisation to the Free plan.

The Billing page (next to Plan in the same menu) is where invoices and payment method will live. For now it directs you to contact us if you need an invoice.

What happens when you downgrade#

Limits are applied in one of two ways, and it’s worth knowing which is which:

Stop you adding more, but leave what you have. This covers the number of checks, heartbeats, notification channels and members, and which channel types you can add. If you drop below what you’re already using, everything keeps working; you just can’t create another until you’re back under the limit.

Take effect immediately. These follow your plan the moment it changes:

  • Result history. Data older than the new plan’s window is pruned on the next cleanup, not kept as a grandfathered exception. Downgrading from a 12-month plan to Free ultimately deletes everything older than 30 days.
  • The public status page. If the new plan doesn’t include it, the page goes dark at once. See Public status page.

Existing checks whose interval or timeout is now outside the new plan’s range keep running as they are, but you’ll need to bring them within range the next time you save them.
